Any candidate found using AI to assist in their answers will be disqualified from consideration.   Successful applicant must pass a background screening, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.   JOB DUTIES:   This is a professional and supervisory position responsible for developing, directing and coordinating all forest management activities on the Tate’s Hell State Forest. The duties require the employee to work closely with scientists, industry representatives, water management district representatives, wildlife biologists and other state and federal agencies on state land management. The employee must be capable of working independently in gathering and assembling data to effectively manage the forest.   Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with Florida Forest Service (FFS) and department policies and procedures. Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner.   Responsible for preparing and implementing the Tate’s Hell State Forest management plan. Activities include an all-season fire management program, forest inventory (including rare, threatened, and endangered plant and animal species), timber sales, and management of ecosystem restoration activities. Responsible for work scheduling, contract management, and maintaining documentation on state forest activities. Responsible for utilizing and maintaining the GIS database for the forest.   Directs and supervises work of Senior Forester, Foresters and Forestry Technicians in day to day activities; ensures that these positions are fully utilized on the State Forest and for fire management activities.   Provides wildfire and emergency response support as directed. Assists in the development of smoke management, wildfire prevention, prescribed fire, pre-suppression burning plans and hazardous fuels mitigation. Assists in the enforcement of Florida’s open burning laws and regulation.   Maintains contact with cooperating agencies and environmental organizations and organizes user groups to ensure cooperative efforts and input into the management of the forest.   Keeps abreast and knowledgable of forestry topics, ecosystems management and rare and endangered species laws.   Performs other related duties as assigned.   The Following Special Benefits for this Position Include   Annual Boot Allotment Annual Uniform Allotment   The Benefits of Working for the State of Florida   Working for the State of Florida is more than a paycheck.
